Start with the loop, not the ad network
A Mini App earns because it creates repeatable value, not because an SDK was pasted into its code. The first question is therefore not which network pays the highest CPM. It is what a user wants to do again tomorrow. A game has progress, a faucet has a claim cycle, an airdrop has verified participation and a utility product solves a recurring problem.
Map the complete loop before choosing revenue: acquisition, first useful action, reason to return, monetizable moment and reward. If the monetizable moment interrupts the only useful action, revenue and retention will fight. If it helps the user accelerate, unlock or continue, the business and product can reinforce each other.
Eight revenue models available in Telegram
- Rewarded advertising
Users voluntarily watch or open an ad in exchange for an in-app benefit such as energy, a retry, a boost or a claim multiplier.
- Interstitial and native advertising
Ads appear at natural transitions or inside the interface. Frequency and placement matter more than raw volume.
- Digital goods with Telegram Stars
Sell boosts, cosmetic items, access, credits or other digital value. Telegram requires digital goods sold inside its apps to use Stars.
- Subscriptions
Charge a recurring Star payment for premium features, research, signals, advanced limits or member-only content.
- Affiliate revenue
Recommend products that fit the audience or launch a Telegram affiliate program so other creators earn from referring paying users.
- Sponsored tasks
Brands pay to become a task, visit, channel action or product discovery opportunity inside a rewards system.
- Transaction or service fees
Marketplaces, tools and services can take a transparent fee when the product facilitates a valuable transaction.
- Owned promotion inventory
A portfolio can cross-promote its own projects or sell measured discovery to other Telegram products.
Choose the model that matches user intent
Avoid launching every model at once. A new product needs a legible value exchange: the user should understand what is free, what is earned, what is paid and why an advertisement appears. One primary revenue engine and one secondary experiment are enough for the first version.
| Product behavior | Best first model | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Short, frequent game sessions | Rewarded ads + optional digital goods | The reward can extend play without blocking the core loop |
| Daily faucet or earning claim | Rewarded ads + sponsored tasks | Revenue can fund the reward while tasks add inventory |
| Airdrop campaign | Sponsored tasks + promotion + optional ads | The primary goal is verified distribution, not endless impressions |
| Utility or analytics tool | Subscription or usage credits | Users pay for recurring value and higher limits |
| Community or content product | Subscription + paid media | Premium access maps directly to content value |
| Large general audience | Native/interstitial ads + affiliates | Multiple demand sources can monetize varied intent |
The 2026 Mini App advertising stack
Telegram Mini App advertising has become a specialized market. AdsGram documents rewarded, interstitial and task formats. OnClickA offers rewarded video or posts, banners and interstitials. Monetag provides rewarded and in-app formats through its Telegram Mini App SDK. RichAds offers embedded, push-style and interstitial placements, while GigaPub positions itself as a mediation layer that can select inventory across connected networks.
These products are not interchangeable. Compare geographic fill, allowed verticals, payout terms, technical control, reporting, support and the experience of a failed ad request. Published CPM examples are not promises: the effective rate changes with geography, demand, format, session quality and season.
- Test fill rate in the countries you actually have
- Confirm content and advertiser category controls
- Measure completed rewarded actions, not only requests
- Design a fallback when no ad is available
- Set a per-user frequency cap
- Review payout currency, threshold and schedule
- Keep each placement identifiable in analytics
- Verify the app still works if the network script fails
Build unit economics before buying traffic
Revenue per acquired user must eventually exceed the cost of acquiring and serving that user. Advertising revenue is normally estimated from monetized impressions, not registrations. A user who opens once and leaves may contribute almost nothing; a retained user who returns for several valuable sessions can support ads, offers and purchases over time.
Model conservative, expected and strong cases. Include fill rate, completed impressions, revenue share, user rewards, payment fees, fraud, support and promotion cost. If rewards are funded by ads, never promise a fixed payout that assumes perfect fill or a permanent CPM.
Contribution per user = ad revenue + Star margin + affiliate revenue − rewards − acquisition cost − variable costsA 30-day monetization rollout
- Days 1–5: instrument the product
Track activation, session return, claims, completed tasks, referrals, ad requests, fills and completed views.
- Days 6–10: add one voluntary placement
Put a rewarded action beside a meaningful benefit. Never make an unavailable ad block normal progress.
- Days 11–15: cap and compare
Test one frequency and reward level against a control cohort. Watch day-one and day-seven return, not only revenue.
- Days 16–21: introduce a second demand source or offer
Compare fill and user behavior by geography. Do not trigger two full-screen formats at the same moment.
- Days 22–26: test a direct purchase
Offer a clear Star purchase or subscription to users who already demonstrate intent.
- Days 27–30: calculate contribution
Keep the combinations that improve contribution without damaging activation, return rate or trust.
Where Mini Empire fits
Mini Empire lets a creator launch a prepared Telegram Mini App free with platform branding and monetization included. That makes it possible to validate the loop before negotiating an advertising stack. When a project proves itself, the one-time Mini App unlock removes platform branding and lets the owner connect their own advertising credentials.
The same command center can broadcast to project audiences, publish tasks across selected apps, promote a project and manage a portfolio. Monetization improves when operations, retention and acquisition use the same audience data instead of living in disconnected tools.
- Launch the smallest working loop before paying for infrastructure.
- Use the free model to test behavior, not to assume revenue.
- Connect your own network only when you can evaluate its performance.
- Reinvest from retained users into measured acquisition, not vanity registrations.
Common questions
What is the easiest way to monetize a Telegram Mini App?
Rewarded advertising is often the easiest first experiment because the user chooses the exchange. It still needs a useful reward, frequency control and a fallback when no ad is available.
Can a Mini App sell subscriptions?
Yes. Telegram supports subscriptions in Stars. Digital goods and services sold inside Telegram apps must use Telegram Stars.
Can I use more than one advertising network?
Technically yes, and mediation can improve coverage, but simultaneous SDKs add failure, reporting and experience complexity. Test one placement and one network at a time before layering demand.
How many users do I need before monetizing?
There is no universal threshold. A small retained cohort is more useful than a large inactive audience because it reveals fill, return behavior and revenue per active user.
